HOBOKEN, N.J. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team ended their regular season Friday afternoon falling 3-0 to No. 5 Stevens inside Canavan Arena.
The high-powered Stevens (24-4, 8-1) offense started strong in the first set hitting an incredible .615 as a team propelling them to a 25-21 victory. Paul Clark led the Knights (21-3, 11-0) with six kills in the game.
The Knights stayed with the Ducks in the second set, until a 4-0 Stevens run gave them a 15-11 lead. Southern Virginia attempted to get back into the game but they were unable to shrink the gap, falling 25-21.
In the third set, the Ducks led nearly the entire set building up to a six-point lead to down the Knights 25-19, becoming the first team to sweep the Knights this season.
Nahuel Recabarren recorded a game-high 15 kills in the loss hitting .229. With his 15 kills today Recabarren passes the 500 total kills in his career. Clark also hit double figures with 13 kills reaching 800 total kills for his career. Kaipo Tagaloa dished out 38 assists while Clark and Danny Aina set a team-high six digs apiece.
David Lehman led the Ducks with 13 kills while hitting .619 on the afternoon.
The Knights now prepare for the Continental Volleyball Conference as the top seed earning a first-round bye as they will begin to play in the semifinals Friday, April 12 at 4:00 p.m. at Perry McCluer High School.
