Buena Vista, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team defeated the Tigers of Wittenberg University 3-1 en route to their 12th straight win of the season.
The Knights (15-1, 8-0 CVC) capitalized early, taking down the Tigers (12-9, 4-3) in the opening game 25-21.
In game two, Southern Virginia had their most kills of the match with 16 but squandered a set point up 24-23. A point later, Wittenberg had a set point of their own and capitalized, tying it up at one game apiece.
Game three was a back and forth battle that featured several lead changes and ended with the Knights coming out on top 25-23.
The fourth and final game was dominated by Southern Virginia as they comfortably took set 25-16 giving them their 15th win of the season.
Nahuel Recabarren had a huge game for the Knights recording a game-high 22 kills on a .432 hitting percentage. Mark Stapley also had double-digit kills for Southern Virginia with 10. Kaipo Tagaloa and Danny Aina both had game-high outings as well, Tagaloa with 48 assists and Aina with 11 digs.
The Knights look to extend their win streak to 13 games as they will play host to Cincinnati Christian University on the 9th of March at 7 p.m.
