BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team swept Mount St. Joseph 3-0 Friday night extending their win streak to seven games.
The Knights (10-1, 5-0 CVC) started with their best set of the evening tallying 13 kills while hitting .375 to take down the Lions (3-9) 25-22.
In the second set, both teams struggled offensively combining for 0.043 hitting percentage, the Knights escaping with a 26-24 victory.
Southern Virginia sealed the match in the set by going on an 11-5 run with the final point coming from Elijah Mowry securing the final kill to give the Knights the 25-17 win.
Paul "Cougar" Clark led the Knights offensively with 14 kills while adding four digs. Mark Stapley earned eight kills hitting an impressive .615 with five digs. Kaipo Tagaloa led with a game-high 29 assists and four total blocks and Danny Aina also with a game-high of 19 digs.
The Knights play continue their seven-game homestand Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:00 p.m against the Marymount Saints.
