BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team topped Arcadia University 3-1 in front of a packed crowd on Friday night in the Knights' home opener.
Southern Virginia (3-2) was able to secure wins in the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-20, but fell in the third 25-23 in a set that was filled with service errors from both teams. Arcadia (2-3) looked like they would pull out a win in game four with a 24-22 lead, but Southern Virginia clamped down to knot the game at 24 and again at 25, 26 and 27 before scoring the final two points to secure the non-conference win.
The Knights were led offensively by Nahuel Recabarren's 14 kills, followed by Paul Clark's 12. Setter Kaipo Tagloa dished 39 assists and had a season-high seven service aces. Tagaloa also led the team with nine digs.
Southern Virginia will open Continental Volleyball Conference action on Friday at Juniata College.
