More School Records Broken at Finn Pincus Invitational

SALEM, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Finn Pincus Invitational this weekend with five athletes placing.

Capital Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week Baylee Mulitalo had a strong outing, setting new personal bests and placing in both of her events —weight throw and shot put.

In the weight throw, Mulitalo threw a new school record of 14.33m in the third round to earn sixth in the event. She continued her solid day by placing fourth in the shot put with another school record of 12.99m on her first attempt. The throw is currently the 15th best in Division III this season.

Fellow CAC Field Athlete of the Week Derek Blasko led the men's team by winning the shot put with a toss of 14.87m.. Blasko was the only Knight to win their respective event.

On the track, junior Mike Myers placed fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:01.01 in a strong field of runners. The Knights 4000m distance medley relay team of Myers, Daniel De La Cruz, Anthony Rangel, and Hunter Lund placed placed fith with a time of 10:59.78.

The Knights will compete next in one of the most heralded indoor track facilities in America, The Armory at the NYU Invitational in New York, N.Y. Friday, Feb. 1.
