SALEM, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's and women's track teams started their indoor season at the Bast-Cregger Invitational Friday afternoon, with a small group competing in the day's events.
The first day of competition consisted of four events: men's and women's pole vault, high jump, 4000m distance medley relay, and the 5000-meter run. Of the four events, the Knights competed in only two, the high jump and the 5000-meter run.
The men's team had three Knights competing in the 5000 meters with an impressive performance from Colter May finishing third overall with a time of 15:39.48. Junior Mike Myers followed right behind May finishing fourth recording a time of 15:45.01, while Greyson Meyers came in twelfth for the Knights.
Freshman Skylar Johnson kicked things off in the high jump where he finished tied for ninth going out at the 1.83m.
The only Knight on the women's team to compete was freshman Jill Westman. She would finish third overall with a time of 20:55.52 in the 5000-meter run.
The rest of the team will compete tomorrow for the final day.
