VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.— The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team were victorious in their final match of the 2019-2020 season, taking down Virginia Wesleyan, 8-1. The Knights finish the short-lived season with a 7-3 record.
Southern Virginia swept the doubles points, as the No. 1 duo of Daniel Blonquist and Kukutla Motlojoa made quick work of their opponents, 8-1. Ethan Sherwood and Andrew Blonquist finished next at three with an 8-2 win, followed by Ben Spencer and Paul Monson who were able to come out on top 8-6 at two.
After missing five singles matches due to injury, Paul Monson took the court again, downing the Marlin's No. 4 player 6-0, 6-2.
The Knights look to build on this year's success as they have several key players returning for next year's season, with a few seniors eying a potential return with the NCAA's eligibility announcement.
