Radford, Va.— The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team was ousted Wednesday afternoon 7-0 by the reigning Big South conference champions. With the loss, the Knights fall to 6-3 on the year.
In singles, Southern Virginia had a few close sets, but struggled to get much going, falling in straight sets at all six positions. Dias had the best outing as he had several opportunities in the first set, before falling 7-6(5), 6-2 at the top spot. At two, Kukutla Motlojoa started slow, losing the first set 6-0. Bouncing back in the second, Motlojoa found himself up 5-3 with two set points. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to convert on either of them as his opponent from the Highlanders (5-1) hit two big winners and took the set 7-5.
The Knights will continue their season on the 7th of March as they take to the road again for a matchup with No. 33 New York University with match-time scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
