Knights Fall to Division I Radford University

Radford, Va.— The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team was ousted Wednesday afternoon 7-0 by the reigning Big South conference champions. With the loss, the Knights fall to 6-3 on the year.

In doubles, the best result came at the No. 2 spot as Paul Monson and Marcos Dias lost a competitive match, 6-4. The Knights fell at No.'s 1 and 3, 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.

In singles, Southern Virginia had a few close sets, but struggled to get much going, falling in straight sets at all six positions. Dias had the best outing as he had several opportunities in the first set, before falling 7-6(5), 6-2 at the top spot. At two, Kukutla Motlojoa started slow, losing the first set 6-0. Bouncing back in the second, Motlojoa found himself up 5-3 with two set points. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to convert on either of them as his opponent from the Highlanders (5-1) hit two big winners and took the set 7-5.

Southern Virginia also had tough matches at No.'s 4 and 6 as both Tanner Bassett and Ben Spencer lost 6-3, 6-3.

The Knights will continue their season on the 7th of March as they take to the road again for a matchup with No. 33 New York University with match-time scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
