HAVERFORD, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team went 1-1 in their matches Saturday afternoon, falling 6-3 in the first match against the No. 11 regionally ranked Haverford Collge and then picking up the 7-2 victory over the York (Pa.) Spartans.
In the first match, the regionally ranked No. 17 Knights (11-3, 3-2 CAC) dropped all three of the doubles losing No.1 doubles 8-2, No. 2 8-2 and No. 3 8-3.
The Fords (9-5, 5-0 CC) took three singles matches from the Knights in several demanding matchups.
The Knights came away with three singles match victories coming from Kukutla Motlojoa in the No. 2 slot with the three-set win. Ben Spencer and Andrew Blonquist also came away with three-set victories over the Fords.
In the second match of the day against the Spartans (7-9, 1-5 CAC), the Knights completed the sweep in doubles.
In singles, Paul Monson and Blonquist made quick work of their opponents, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0. Danny Blonquist and Spencer also picked up the wins for the Knights giving them the 7-2 victory.
Southern Virginia travels to take on Division I the University of Richmond Friday, April 19 starting at 10:30 a.m.
