Athens, W.Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team earned its second straight shutout and third straight win over Concord University, defeating its team 9-0.

The No. 2 doubles team comprised of Paul Monson and Ben Spencer easily defeated their opponents 8-0. No. 1 and 3 came from behind to put the team up 3-0.

In singles, all of the Knights except for No. 2 Ben Spencer finished in two sets. Spencer's opponent found a rhythm in the second set to put the match even. Unfazed, Spencer replied with deep groundstrokes and a heavy serve to win 10-4 in the tiebreak.

"This was a challenging team, they had solid players and our team handled themselves well," commented head coach Thomas Snelson. "Our team is looking solid, the new players have shown great composure and are huge assets to the team."

The Knights will have a couple days before they take on Roanoke College on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. in Roanoke, Va.
