Men's Tennis Stays Perfect at Roanoke

Salem, Va. – The Southern Virginia men's tennis team has improved their record to 4-0 after defeating the Roanoke College Maroons 8-1.

No.3 doubles were the first to wrap things up in the first portion of the match, shutting out their opponents 8-0. No. 1 and 2 doubles quickly followed, putting the team up 3-0 in the match. The Knights are now 12-0 in doubles this season.

No. 5 Zachary Bowers and No. 6 Andrew Blonquist were the first to win, giving the Knights the necessary 5-0 lead to win the match.

No. 4 Tanner O'Brien was able to fend off several resurgences from his opponent and finished his match with a very respectable 6-3, 6-2 score.

No. 1 and 2 both finished their matches in straight sets, only dropping six games between the two of them.

The Knights will be back in action in their first home match of the season against Emory and Henry College. The match will take place at The Fields on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m.
