Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener to Mary Washington

BUENA VISTA, Va.— In its first contest of the 2015 season the Southern Virginia University men's tennis team fell, 4-0, to No. 17 University of Mary Washington Friday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Knights traveled with four players and only contended as doubles. Mary Washington's Scott Buie and Nolan Pergini defeated Breannan Alford and Kjell Henness 8-2. Knights Cort Cox and Parker Monsen fell to Alex Cragg and Joe Dillenbeck 8-1.

The two squads did not compete in singles play. The Knights look to compete with a full squad Wednesday March 18 as they host the University of Virginia-Wise. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the Tennis Courts in Buena Vista, Va.
