By Lancaster Brown

LYNCHBURG Va.— The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Methodist University on Saturday afternoon at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Va.

"This was a good learning experience for our young team," said Southern Virginia head coach Tony Caputo. "Today was the first match for over half of our guys, and it will help us get ready for the rest of our difficult schedule. I'm proud of how we competed."

Southern Virginia (0-1) dropped all three doubles matches, but won one of the six singles matches en route to the loss to Methodist (2-0).

Dallin Evans earned the Knights their lone point by winning his No. 2 singles match against Methodist's Seth Grant 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Pradeep Ravisankar forced a third set in his No. 1 singles match, but eventually fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to Max Mancini of Methodist.

Men's tennis will next face Emory & Henry on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at The Fields.
