ASHLAND Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team dropped its second consecutive match on Tuesday 9-0 at Randolph-Macon College.
"Randolph-Macon [College] has a solid program that took advantage of its opportunities today," said fifth-year Head Coach Tony Caputo. "I felt that Brian [Blocher] and Pradeep [Ravisankar] had good matches, but just fell short of a win."
Randolph-Macon (5-9) joins York College as the only two teams to sweep Southern Virginia (6-5) this season as the Yellow Jackets earned the advantage in all nine matches in the win.
Southern Virginia's Pradeep Ravisankar (Chennai, India) made his first appearance at the No. 1 position, taking Randolph-Macon's No. 1-seed Michael Baxter to 12 sets in the second round, but eventually falling 6-1 and 7-5.
No. 2-seed Brian Blocher (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) had the closest match on Tuesday, moving play to a third set after splitting the first two (1-6, 6-3). Blocher, however, came up just short 10-5 in the tiebreaking round in the loss.
Men's tennis will take two days off before heading to Winchester, Va., on Fri., Apr. 5, to face Shenandoah University—the Knights' second straight ODAC opponent.
