Men's Tennis Rolls at Virginia Union

Written by Chris Pendleton

RICHMOND, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team continued to roll on Wednesday as the Knights collected their tenth win of the year with a dominant 8-1 victory at Virginia Union University.

Southern Virginia (10-1) dropped only the top-seeded doubles match at Virginia Union before taking the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches and sweeping singles play.

With Wednesday's victory, men's tennis has now reached double-digit wins for the second consecutive season—the first two such seasons in the program's five-year history.

The Knights' initial double-digit winning season came last year when men's tennis won a program best 12 games. With five matches still remaining this season, Southern Virginia has a chance to exceed last year's win total and complete the most successful men's tennis season in school history.

On Saturday, men's tennis will play its only home match of the season when Southern Virginia hosts Bluefield College at the Washington and Lee University outdoor courts in Lexington, Va., at 1 p.m. EST.
