Chris Teerlink enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Southern Virginia men’s soccer program.
A Stuart’s Draft, Va., native, Teerlink played for the Knights from 2009-11 and served as a team captain his senior season. As a senior in 2011, he was second on the team with 21 points off seven goals and seven assists, which ranks tied for second in school history for points in a single season. As a freshman on the 2004 squad, he was a member of the last Knight team to qualify for postseason play.
He also served as Southern Virginia University’s Student Body President for the 2010-11 academic year.
A 2004 graduate of Stuart’s Draft High School, Teerlink earned coaching experience as the junior varsity coach of SDHS in the spring of 2007 shortly after a church mission.
Teerlink and former Knight teammate, Nelson McNaughton, have conducted an annual youth soccer clinic on Southern Virginia’s campus since 2011.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2005-07 in Fresno, Calif.
Teerlink graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management and leadership from Southern Virginia in December of 2011.
Following graduation in 2012, he worked at Frontline Test Equipment through the summer of 2014.
