Title: Head Coach
Phone: 540-261-8517

Hired in February 2014, Josh Patiño begins his third season as head coach of the men's soccer program at Southern Virginia.

In his first year he led the Knights to a 6-14 season, much improved from the one-win season in 2013. He also increased the offensive and defensive production of the team which can be seen in the increase of shots and goals and allowing 40 less goals this season.

Before coming to Southern Virginia, Patiño has experienced tremendous success as a member of the Utah Celtic FC girls soccer coaching staff. Last season, he helped guide the U16 Celtic team to a 25-game win streak and eventual 2013 Utah state championship.

With Celtic FC, Patiño helped identify, select, recruit and develop players. His duties also included scouting opponents, developing practice and game plans and guiding players through the college recruiting process.

A member of the Brigham Young University men's soccer team from 2008-12, Patiño graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in exercise and wellness in December 2012.

In November 2013, Patiño was chosen by the Utah Olympic Development Program to help select the state's top 40 youth soccer players. Patiño has also served as the COO and co-founder of World Sports Partners, LLC — a sports management group focused on developing young athletes based in Orem, Utah — since 2012.

Patiño has a USSF National B coaching license and recently completed the certification process for a National Youth License.

He served a two-year mission (2006-2008) for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nev., and later worked as a zone coordinator at the LDS Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah from 2011-13.

He and his wife, Heather, have been married for five years and they have one son.
