Wildcats Lone Goal Enough to Defeat Knights

Buena Vista, Va. — The men's soccer team lost in a hard-fought contest against the Randolph Wildcats on Saturday night, bringing their record to 1-7 on the season.

The Wildcats (4-3-1) pulled away in the 30th minute when Daniel Over scored a goal assisted by Evan Blow. The score game after three saves by Knights goalie Jacob Solis.

Senior midfielder Anthony Bowden led the attack for Southern Virginia with two shots, the first being a shot on goal saved by Erick Cortez-Martine of the Wildcats. The Knights were outshot 10-1 in the first half but came back strong in the second with a more even 5-6 shot margin.

Southern Virginia goalkeeper Jacob Solis added to his Capital Athletic Conference lead in saves with 52 on the season. His lead is 20 saves ahead of the next highest in Billy Bridegum of York (Pa.). 

The Knights will return to the pitch for their final game before conference play on Sept. 24 when they face Wilson College.
