BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team was suffered defeat by Christopher Newport on Wednesday evening by a score of 3-0.
In the first half, the Knights (1-13, 0-3) allowed goals in the 27th and 32nd minutes of the game, giving the Captains (6-5, 2-1) a 2-0 edge. The Knights were able to get their only shot of the game in the first half from senior Matt Diede.
In the second half, the Captains added to their lead scoring in the 62nd minute on a shot from 25 yards off the foot of Justin Wilson his second goal of the day. Southern Virginia would be unable to get a shot off in the second half, with the final score 3-0.
The Knights were outshot 28-1 and were unable to earn any corners for the game.
Southern Virginia will continue conference play at Penn St.-Harrisburg Saturday, Oct. 13 at 12:00 p.m.
