FREDERICK, Md. — The Southern Virginia men's soccer team took a tough loss on Wednesday, falling 3-0 to Hood College.
The Blazers (6-1-1) found the back of the net early, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of the game. The Knights (0-8) fought hard for the rest of the first half, attempting four of their five total shots for the game, but went into halftime down one.
After numerous opportunities for Hood to start the second half, the Blazers scored again at the 68-minute mark for a 2-0 lead, and they scored again in the 85th minute on a penalty kick to finish the scoring for the game.
Hood finished the match with 23 shots and nine corner kicks, but they were only able to put eight shots on frame. Southern Virginia put four shots on goal and earned only one corner.
Keeper James Hampton started the game and played the first 45 minutes, saving one shot in the loss. Sophomore Kostner Olsen came in for the second half and saved three shots.
After not playing a home game for three weeks, the Knights will finally return to Knight Stadium on Thursday to take on Regent University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
