HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team was unable to get in the win column on Saturday, falling to Hampden Sydney College by a score of 4-0.
The Tigers (1-2-1) wasted no time in scoring, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute of play. After the teams went into the break at just 1-0, the Knights (0-5) could not stymie the Hampden Sydney attack, giving up three more goals in the second half to give the Tigers the four-score win.
Southern Virginia had trouble finding their groove in the match, taking only two shots in the 90 minutes. The Tigers, however, took 26 shots with 14 on frame.
James Hampton started in goal for the Knights, finishing the game with 10 saves.
Southern Virginia will look to turn things around on Wednesday, Sept. 12 as they return home to take on Gallaudet University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
