By Sam Armstrong

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team dropped their conference home game 4-1 against Marymount University on Wednesday evening.

The Saints (4-12, 2-5 CAC) opened up the scoring early, putting one in the back of the net in just the third minute of the game. The match was back-and-forth for the rest of the first half until 43rd minute, when Marymount extended their lead to two going into halftime.

The second half wasn't much better for the Knights (4-12, 1-5 CAC), giving up two more goals in the 76th and 87th minutes for a final score of 4-0.

The teams were fairly even on both shots and corner kicks, combining for 30 and 10, respectively. The Knights were able to put pressure on the Saints' keeper all game, with 10 of their 14 shots on frame.

Gregg Allen, Jeremy Wilson, and Edwin Hernandez led the Knights' offense with three shots each in the match. Keeper Colin Flynn ended the night with the loss, but with six saves.

Southern Virginia will take the field again on Saturday as they travel north to take on York College of Pennsylvania. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
