NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team struggled on Wednesday evening in their match against conference-leader Christopher Newport, losing 11-0.
The Captains (8-2, 3-0) scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game on their way to a 7-0 halftime lead. The Knights (3-9, 0-3) only managed to take three shots in the half while the Captains took 29. Christopher Newport scored four more goals in the second period, while Southern Virginia senior Marrott Weekes led the team to seven shots.
Weekes, fellow senior Jackson Farnworth, and freshman Jeremy Wilson each took a shot on goal for the Knights, who worked hard to gain possession all match. Goalkeeper Colin Flynn took the loss on the match, finishing with seven saves.
The Knights are in action again on Saturday, October 7, to take on Wesley College. The match will be at Knights Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted live.
