Men's Soccer Announces 2010 Schedule

BUENA VISTA, Va. Southern Virginia Men's Soccer head coach Tom Longenecker has announced the schedule for the 2010 season. The season calls for seven home games, which will be the most home games the Knights have had in program history. With the completion of the new home field for SVU this past fall the team will have a home field advantage that has been missing in the past.

The Knights will open their season with a game against long time rival Warren Wilson. the Knights have not played Warren Wilson since the 2007 season, when they beat the Owls 2-1. The Knights hold an advantage in the series, and will look to start the season on a good note in their quest to return to the USCAA National Tournament.

SVU will continue rivalries with ODAC school's Bridgewater and Washington & Lee. The Knights will continue their USCAA competitions with Christendom, while looking to get victories over Patrick Henry. The Knights will again play a home-and-home with Gallaudet.

A new addition to the schedule will be the games played against Penn State University Athletic Conference foes Penn College, Williamson Trade and Penn St.-York. The trio of schools will provide the USCAA competition the Knights have been looking for to give them a boost in their tournament quest.

The Knights will end their season hosting familiar foe Ferrum, and then heading to play against NCAA D. I opponent Liberty. The Knights will look to improve from an 8-5-1 season, and their first trip to the national tournament since 2004.
