Stephen Macurdy is head men's lacrosse coach as well as the athletics facilities manager for Southern Virginia University.
In his first year at the helm, Southern Virginia went 0-9 in its inaugural season at the varsity level and as a provisional member of NCAA Division III.
Macurdy served as assistant men's lacrosse coach from 2008-11 and co-head coach from 2011-12 before being named head coach in June 2012. He also spent one year as assistant volleyball coach during the 2010-11 season before rejoining the program during summer 2012.
As a scholar-athlete at Southern Virginia, Macurdy was a four-year starter for the Knights lacrosse team earning MCLA Division II All-Conference honors in 2003 and 2004. Following the 2004 season, Macurdy became the university’s first MCLA Division II All-American.
From 2004-2010, Macurdy served in the National Guard, during which time he completed several state-side missions as well as a year-long tour of Kosovo.
Prior to attending Southern Virginia, Macurdy coached girl’s lacrosse at his alma mater, Potomac Senior High School, from 2000-2001.
He served a fulltime mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California speaking Lao.
Macurdy has a B.A. in business management and leadership from Southern Virginia University.
