Men's Lacrosse Falls to Sea Gulls of First Round in CAC Tournament

SALISBURY, Md. — The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team ended their season Saturday after falling in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference to No. 3 Salisbury University 27-9.

The Knights (5-13, 0-6) scored the first goal of the game when Shawn Lamb found Brady Cook for the goal. The Sea Gulls then responded with a 7-0 run. Lamb added a goal to end the first quarter trailing 7-2.

In the second quarter, netted back-to-back goals from Tennison Schmidt and Lamb to pull the Knights within three 7-4. Salisbury added four unanswered goals extending their lead 11-4. With 1:46 remaining in the quarter Carter Bean recorded his first goal of the day with the Knights heading into the half down 11-5.

The Knights' strongest quarter came in the third with the Knights scoring their most goals in a quarter with four at one point bringing them to within five of the Sea Gulls 13-8. Southern Virginia allowed two more goals before scoring one of their own to trail 15-9.

The Southern Virginia offense did not score in the fourth quarter while the Sea Gulls offense scored 12 goals putting away the Knights 27-9.

Lamb led the Knights tallying six points with a pair of goals and a game-high four assists. Schmidt led the team in goals with three while Bean, Zach Danneman, Brady Cook accounted for the remaining Knight goals.

Ian Arave collected 19 saves and a team-high five ground balls at goal.

Corey Gwin and Cross Ferrara led the Sea Gulls with five goals each.
