BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team fell 12-6 to Bridgewater College Wednesday evening in a non-conference match that was originally scheduled for March 21.
Southern Virginia (7-5) went down early to the Eagles (8-3) 3-0 in the first three minutes. A minute later, Shawn Lamb answered and put the Knights on the board. Midway through the period, Isaac DeGarlais connected a pass to Anthony Good to cut Bridgewater's lead to one goal.
With just under five minutes in the first quarter, the Eagles were able to sneak another one past goalkeeper Ian Arave to take a two-goal lead that would be erased in the next 89 seconds by Shawn Lamb, scoring back-to-back goals in 1:01 of game time.

Only one shot found the back of the net in the second quarter, coming from Bridgewater three minutes into the period to take a 6-4 lead at the half.
The lead was extended in the third quarter as the Eagles snagged a pair of goals to double the lead. The Knights were able to stop the scoring drought with a Brady Cook goal in the fourth period, but Bridgewater's Blake Mann put the game out of reach with three straight goals in the final minutes of the quarter.
Anthony good scored a last-second goal to wrap things up 12-6. Lamb recorded his sixth hat trick of the year and had six shots on goal. The Eagles' Kevin Metzger recorded 16 saves in the Knights' offensive onslaught.
Each team won 10 of 20 faceoffs and had nearly the same number of shots on goal. Arave recorded nine saves in the loss.
Southern Virginia will host Capital Athletic Conference opponent St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday. Faceoff is at 1 p.m at Knight Stadium.
