FROSTBURG, Md. – Playing at a neutral location at Frostburg State University, the Southern Virginia men's lacrosse team took down Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday by a score of 18-13.
The Knights (4-0) managed to score an impressive 12 goals in the first half, taking a three-goal advantage into the break. The squad was able to pull away in the third quarter with the defense holding the Yellow Jackets (2-1) to just one goal in the frame, allowing the Knights to cruise to the win.
Seth Garff continued his efficient start to the season, leading the attack with five goals on just nine shots, giving him a conference-leading 16 goals on the season. He also added a pair of assists in the win. Fellow attacker Shawn Lamb was setting up his teammates all game long, dishing out five assists and as well as scoring a goal. His 14 assists currently lead the CAC by a wide margin.
Also playing well for the Knights were Carter Bean with three goals and an assist, Tennison Schmidt with a goal and three assists, as well as Mike Anderson and Jace Thomas with a pair of goals each. Thomas also won a phenomenal 27 of 34 faceoffs.
The Knights outshot the Yellow Jackets 53-34 for the game, and they picked up 49 ground balls to the Yellow Jackets' 32.
Bostin Preisler got the job done in goal yet again, finishing with nine saves in the win.
The Knights take the field again on Saturday as they open up CAC competition against No. 20 Christopher Newport. The game is slated to start at 4:00 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
