About the Knights
Southern Virginia enters its first Capital Athletic Conference contest coming off an 18-4 defeat at the hands of Randolph College. Freshman Nash Wilkey leads the Knights in scoring with seven goals and two assists, while freshman Garrett Maw has four goals on the season. Goalkeeper Tyler Cox has compiled 42 saves in his four starts for the Knights.
This marks the first Capital Athletic Conference action for the men's lacrosse team. The CAC boasts some of the most competitive programs in NCAA DIII lacrosse, including three current top 20 teams in Salisbury, York (Pa.), and St Mary's (Md.).
About the Wolverines
Wesley (2-0) entered the season ranked seventh of nine teams in the CAC. The Wolverines finished 6-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play last season.
Wesley returns five of the team's top eight scorers from last year, including sophomore Jathan Mahaffey who led the Wolverines in both goals (22) and assists (11). Sam Seibert is also back to full strength for his sophomore season while James Moss, Mike Rakos and Patrick Lipari are all threats to score.
