Knights Drop To 0-2 With Loss To Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. - A day after coming up short against Shorter College, the Southern Virginia University lacrosse team looked for the first win of the season, but was overwhelmed by Ferrum College, falling 12-3. The Knights never really got started against the hosts, as Ferrum registered 5-goals in the first quarter alone. SVU's lone goal in the period came from Tylor Bayer with only 48-seconds left on the clock. Bayer would add another assist in the game.

Tommy Trammel would add the next goal for the Knights in the second period. By halftime, SVU would trail the Panthers 6-2. Things did not get better for the visitors, as Ferrum would add three more goals each in the third and the fourth period, while SVU could only muster one goal, courtesy of Sam Pond, in the third quarter.

Jordan Sorensen was able to make 15-stops, but faced a crippling amount of shots, as the SVU defense could not find a solution to the Panther offense. The Knights' offense also found itelf struggling as they could only get off 8-shots all match.

The loss drops the Knights to an 0-2 start on the young season. SVU will return to play on Feb. 19, when they host the Knight Invitational. SVU will take on Carnegie Mellon and the University of New Haven during the day.
