Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2011 Schedule
BUENA VISTA, Va. Southern Virginia lacrosse head coach, Chad Mahaffey, has announced the 2001 schedule for the Knights. Two contests against NCAA Division III Ferrum College and Randolph College, as well as a trip to Savannah, Georgia highlight a tough 12 game schedule. After finishing 5-5 in 2010, the Knights look to improve with the program's first winning record.
The Knights open at home against start-up program Shorter University on February 11th. The next day the Knights travel to upstart NCAA Division III Ferrum College.
The following week is the annual Knight Invitational featuring the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Carnegie Mellon University. CMU is a regular at the annual tournament, and the Knights welcome UNC-W.
The month of March holds many challenges for the Knights. These include away trips to NCAA Division III Randolph College, defending South Eastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) Division 2 champion Elon University, and SELC Division 2 powerhouse Savannah College of Art and Design. March ends with two conference games against Davidson College and Liberty University at home.
The season finishes with a trip down to Boone, NC where the Knights face conference foe Appalachian State University and visiting John Carroll University. The Mountaineers and Knights have a heated rivalry, and this year SVU looks to finally defeat conference foe ASU.
