Knights Secure First Winning Season With Victory Over High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. A Tommy Trammel hat trick paced the Southern Virginia Lacrosse team to a 7-2 win over High Point, and helped the Knights secure the program's first winning season. The Knights took 13-shots and were effective in their shooting, as they converted on over half of those shots.

The Knights fell behind early but Baden Bagley sent home a goal to push the Knights to a tie, and they would never trail in the game again. Greg Lane put in the second goal, which HPU didn't respond to until late in the fourth quarter, after the game was all but over.

The game was scrappy as the Knights had six penalty calls, and the ground ball game showed that both teams were fighting hard for an advantage. SVU was able to corral 23-ground balls.

Brian Flood and Mark Lundgren ripped the nets for the Knights before Trammel caped the game with his hat trick. Jordan Sorensen earned the win with 12 saves in the victory.

The win pushed the Knights to 5-3 on the season. With only one more game remaining the team accomplished the prestigious first winning season in program history.

SVU returns to action April 16 when they host Elon for the last game of the season. The game starts at 5:00 pm.
