Phoenix Soar vs. Anemic Knights

ELON, N.C. - During the season, teams usually have athletes that miss parts of the season due to injury, or due to outside circumstances. This would greatly affect the Knights this past weekend. SVU Traveled to Elon University to take on the #3 team in the country, and defending SELC Champion Phoenix. The Knights traveled 13 players, and had only 2 subs for most of the game.

Southern Virginia fought hard for much of the game, but did not have the man power to keep up with high powered Elon. Elon's offense was crisp, and it's defense disciplined. The Phoenix went into half time with a healthy lead. A strong effort from the Knights midfield line was a highlight of the game. Midfielders Luke Christiansen and Nick Waite created many fastbreaks that would not be capitilized on. Junior Attackmen Greg Lane tallied two goals on the day. Goalkeep, Scott Trammel (24 saves on the night) would save a shot, and throw a quick outlet for the clear to Midfielder Nick Waite. Nick would clear the ball across the midfield line and on the fast break, pass it to Soph, Braden Duran...a skip pass to Greg Lane would find Lane at the right post, and on a classic back post shot from Lane, he scored. No other scores would be posted until the 3rd quarter late when a failed clear from the Elon Goalie, would end up in Lane's stick again, and with no-one infront of him and the goalie, Lane took the ball in one on one with the goalie and scored!

The Knigths are back in action this Tuesday, April 7th against the 49ers of Charlotte. Game time is set for 7:30 at Charlotte
