ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team concluded play at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational, finishing fourth overall at the Hanover Country Club.
"This was another solid round for Niko," said Head Coach Blair Garner. "Jake played steady all day with 12 pars and six bogeys. Luke grinded hard and shot a respectable score despite only hitting five greens. Gettysburg has a tradition, strong program and was a good test for us. We were able to come out and beat some competitive teams today."
The Southern Virginia fourth-place finish comes after the team posted a team score of 315, finishing two strokes back from third and six from second place. The host Gettysburg College collected the team victory with a score of 304 while John David Coffin of Marymount won the individual title.
Niko Vui was the Knights' top performer on the team's trip north. The junior shot three over for a score of 74 to finish tied for fourth overall — his third-consecutive top-20 finish of the season.
Finishing second for Southern Virginia was Jake Hanchett, who carded a 77 for the round to finish six over and tied for 11th on the leaderboard.
Luke Wilson followed closely, just two strokes behind after shooting a 79 on the day and tied for 19th overall.
Southern Virginia will now travel to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to play Virginia Wesleyan at the Cyprus Point Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
