Knights Finish Play at the Cutter Creek Invitational

SNOW HILL, N.C. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team finished tied for seventh-place at the Cutter Creek Invitational after the final round of play Tuesday afternoon.

"We would have liked to shoot better," said Head Coach Blair Garner. "The greens were ultra-quick, and the course was a demanding test of golf. It was great to see Jake Hanchett play as well as he did. We had three players playing in their first collegiate tournament and Niko hasn't played for a couple of years. With time, I expect this team to be our best yet."

Barton College claimed the invitational title after scoring 586 after two rounds.

Individually, Niko Vui led the way for the Knights, finishing tied for 16th. The junior carded a 75 on the day to total a score of 153 for the invitational.

Jake Hanchett produced the low-score on the round after shooting a 74 and a combined score of 156 finishing tied 22nd overall.

Tad Honeycutt (T30), Luke Wilson (35), and Jake Watson (46) completing the top-five for the Knights.

The Knights will be back on the course Sept. 16-17 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, for the Tom Kinder Memorial at the Lakeview Golf Course.
