Knights Complete Day Two, Place Seventh at the Tom Kinder Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team completed the second and final day of the Tom Kinder Invitational, earning a seventh place team finish.

In a loaded field of players, newcomer Nate Ouimette was at the top of the leaderboard in day one after shooting an impressive round at a 69, creating a new school record. On day two Ouimette shot a 74, adding up to a 143 total over the two days another school record and finished the tournament tied in third place.

"There were some nerves with this being my first collegiate tournament," said Ouimette. "I thought this was a great experience not only for me but for my teammates. We are looking to get better each day and get ready for our next tournament."

Teammates Cale Hansen and Coulson Hardy both rounded out top-30 performances for the Knights tied in 24th place at 153 for both rounds.

"I am proud of the team, we have new players and they stepped up and did a great job," said Head Coach Blair Garner. "I look forward to improving and practicing our areas we were weaker in these past two days. All in all, I am excited to see what the future holds."

The Knights next play in the VSGA Intercollegiate tournament Oct. 15-16 at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Virginia.
