PHOENIX, Md. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team sits just ten strokes out of first place after round one of the Goucher Fall Invitational at a very difficult Hillendale Country Club.
The Knights' Coulson Hardy tied his season best with a score of 79, he was one of only two players to break 80 on the par-72 course.
Cameron Speyer responded well to a rocky start, shooting an even par on the back nine for a day score of 82. He sits tied for fifth place.
Christian Kidd and Dustin Taylor were the other scorers for the team, shooting 86 and 92, respectively. Just two strokes behind Taylor is Andrew Mercer, with a 94, one of his best scores of the season.
The second and final round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning. The Knights look to cut into the lead held by host Goucher College as well as Drew University.
