Speyer Leads Men's Golf Thru Day One of VSGA Championship

RICHMOND, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team sits in 16th place after day one of the Virginia State Golf Association's Intercollegiate Championship, led by a season-low 76 from Cameron Speyer.

"Our team has improved every round this year and we hope that will continue tomorrow," commented head golf coach Blair Garner. "Cameron was solid all day, despite shooting a good round without a birdie."

The Knights' sole birdie of the day came from Coulson Hardy, who sits ten-over-par after round one. Christian Kidd and Dustin Taylor are the other two scorers for Southern Virginia, shooting 85 and 89 on the par-71 Stonehenge Golf and Country Club.
