ABINGDON, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's golf team placed fourth at the Emory & Henry Fall Invitational on Tuesday, moving up from fifth place on Monday.
"Our team is getting better and we had a lot of improvement from Monday," head coach Blair Garner said. "Coulson played his best round of the year. Cameron had a tough start and then played great."
The tournament was held at the Glencrochie Country Club in Abingdon, Virginia.
Coulson Hardy and Cameron Spyer each shot a 166 in the two-day tournament. After the first round, Hardy took eight strokes off of his score and Spyer shot six better on Tuesday to tie for 12th place.
Virginia Union won the tournament, with a score of 623. Both of Emory & Henry teams took the podium as well. The Knights tied Eastern Mennonite with a score of 698.
Southern Virginia will be back in action at the VSGA Intercollegiate tournament on Oct. 16 and 17.
