Men's Golf Competes in Inaugural Tournament at the CAC Fall Preview

CAPE CHARLES, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team competed in the Capital Athletic Conference Fall Preview this week, marking the programs first-ever NCAA match.

The men played their tournament on the par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Virginia.

Cameron Speyer (Austin, Texas) led the Knights with a two-day score of 159, shooting a 77 in round one and an 82 in round two. He sat in seventh place on Monday, while in windy conditions on a tough course. He finished tied for 16 in the six-team tournament.

The Idaho golfers, Christian Kidd (Declo, Idaho) and Dustin Taylor (Idaho Falls, Idaho) finished with scores of 179 apiece after finishing within a stroke of one another in both rounds.

Coulson Hardy (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Andrew Mercer (Westminster, Md.) rounded out the Knights' scores with totals of 191 and 196, each of them bettering their Monday scores on Tuesday.

The men's team will compete in the Emory & Henry Fall Classic at the Glenrochie Country Club on October 2 and 3 in Abingdon, Virginia.
