Knights Come In Third at Red Poling Invitational

HAMPTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's golf team finished third out of five teams at the Red Poling Invitational held Monday at the Nemacolin Woodland Resort's Mystic Rock course in Farmington, Pa.

Southern Virginia shot a combined 381 (+93) for the afternoon finishing behind Penn College (339, +51) and PSU-Kensington (362, +74), but ahead of PSU-Greater Allegheny (391, +103) and PSU-Fayette (424, +136).

The Knights were led by senior Andrew Snider (Lancaster, Calif.) who shot a 92 on the par-72 course.

Jake Messerly (North Ogden, Utah) was one stroke behind Snider at 93 for the day, while Jaden Welsh (Washington Terrace, Utah) entered the club house at 95.

Cordell Raincok (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Zach Garner (Boise, Idaho) rounded out the scoring for the Knights at 101 and 105 respectively.

Men's golf will now prepare for the 2011 USCAA National Championships held at the Penn State Blue Course in University Park, Pa. next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11.
