Greg Winslow was named head men's basketball coach at Southern Virginia in May 2018.
Before becoming head coach, Winslow served as an assistant to Tony Caputo, helping lead the men's basketball program to its first Capital Athletic Conference tournament appearance in 2015-16 and eight home wins this past season—the most since the 2012-13 season.
Since joining Caputo's staff in 2015, Winslow has also served in several capacities within the Knights athletics department including director of intramurals and director of promotions. Before coming to Southern Virginia, Winslow accumulated more than two decades of coaching experience in California at the community college and high school levels.
Winslow has taught elementary and middle school since 1990, teaching different subjects such as weight training, first aid, math, United States history and world history.
Winslow graduated from Fresno State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in U.S. history with an emphasis in Latin America. He also earned a master’s degree in education curriculum with an emphasis in instruction from Cal State Bakersfield in 1993.
Greg and his wife, Janene, have been married for over 30 years and have four children. The eldest daughter, Tatum, served a mission in Brazil and earned a master's degree in Psychology from Fresno State University. Son, Rex, served a mission in France and is graduated from Southern Virginia. His daughter, Tori, is a graduate student at Utah State University and youngest son, Kellen, lives in Buena Vista and attends Southern Virginia with his wife, Emily.
