FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team fell on the road to the University of Mary Washington Wednesday night, by a count of 65-48.
The Eagles (12-5, 6-4 CAC), who recently beat an undefeated York College (Pa.) team, held the Knights (7-10, 2-8 CAC) to their lowest point total of the season.
Mary Washington jumped to an early lead, which the Knights were able to overtake once in the first half, but the Eagles regained control and held the Knights to just 18 first-half points.
Cale Thornton (Lyman, Maine) was the only Knight in double figures with 16 points; he also led the team with eight rebounds. Senior Aarun Rumbaugh chipped in nine points and four rebounds in the loss.
The Knights return home to host Penn St.-Harrisburg on Saturday, January 27. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. in the Knight Sports Arena.
