Men's Basketball Drops CAC Matchup at Wesley College

DOVER, Del. — The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team dropped a Capital Athletic Conference road game at Wesley College on Saturday, falling 84-70.

After jumping in front with a three-pointer on their first possession, the Knights (7-10, 2-8 CAC) held a slim lead for the first eight minutes of the half before Wesley (8-9, 4-6 CAC) went on a 13-4 run and closed out the half with a seven-point lead. 

The Knights pulled within two during the second half, but were never able to get over the hump and regain control. Wesley's largest lead of the game was 17. 

Southern Virginia shot below its 44.5% shooting percentage at 41.7% while Wesley shot lights out with 53.3% shooting. 

The Knights drained six treys, five of which came from Sam Armstrong as part of his career-high 17 points. Cale Thornton also recorded 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Aarun Rumbaugh and Justin Prisbrey were the other two Knights in double-digits with 15 and 10. Rumbaugh also had five dishes and eight boards.

The Knights look to break the skid on Wednesday as they had to the University of Mary Washington. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
