BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team fell 83-75 to Salisbury University at home in a hotly contested Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
Salisbury (10-5, 6-2 CAC) came out hard, leading the Knights 12-6 in the first few minutes. The Knights then regrouped and held the Seagulls within six, ending the half with a six-point deficit 39-33.
In the second half, the Knights fought to catch up, but Salisbury pulled away midway through the half after several turnovers from the Knights
Throughout the game, the Knights led the Seagulls in both field goal and three-point percentages but struggled to find rhythm on their free throws, leading to 10 missed free-throw opportunities.
Aaron Rumbaugh took care of defensive rebounds, tallying eight throughout the game and nine total, alongside 18 points. Justin Prisbrey also pulled down nine rebounds and led the team with 21 points. Jaron Anderson recorded 13 points from the bench.
The Knights are off to Frostburg State on Wednesday, Jan. 17 to face off in another Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
