ST. MARY'S, Md. — The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team earned its second Capital Athletic Conference win of the year on Wednesday with a 78-61 triumph of St. Mary's College of Maryland. Justin Prisbrey, Aarun Rumbaugh, and Tyler McCreadie combined for 46 of the Knights' points.
The Knights (7-5, 2-3 CAC) took a six-point halftime lead after a pair of back-and-forths during the period. Southern Virginia kept the lead during the entire second half, leading by 17 with eight minutes left and again at the end of regulation.
Southern Virginia outrebounded the Seahawks (2-10, 1-4 CAC) 45-24 and shot 48% from the field. Prisbrey and McCreadie led the team with 16 points while Rumbaugh had 14. McCreadie, along with Cale Thornton and Alec Johnson pulled down nine rebounds apiece.
The visitors found their way to the line 20 times, with St. Mary's making the trip 10. Southern Virginia shot 70% from the stripe.
The Knights look for their third CAC win as they play host to York (Pa.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
