ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.—The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team fell 75-59 to St. Mary's College of Maryland in Capital Athletic Conference action.
The two teams battled for the lead through the first 10 minutes of the game. With 11:30 left in the first half the Knights (3-12, 1-7 CAC) held an eight-point lead. Despite being ahead, the Seahawks (8-7, 3-5 CAC) went on a 25-8 run to take a 33-24 lead at the half and ultimately secure the victory.
The Knights were led by freshman Tyler McCreadie who tied his career-high with 15 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds. Aarun Rumbaugh contributed 12 points and Michael Price had a career-high 11 rebounds.
St. Mary's shot 50% from behind the arc, scoring seven three-pointers compared to the three treys by the Knights.
Southern Virginia returns to the Knight Sports Arena on Wednesday, January 18 as they host Frostburg State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
