NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—Following a successful season with the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team, junior guard Preston Eaton was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-America Second Team on Friday afternoon in Newport News, Va.

A native of Mapleton, Utah, Eaton joined the Knights for the 2013-14 season after transferring from Central Wyoming Community College. The guard quickly got to work for the Knights, starting 21 of 22 games and averaging 32 minutes of play per contest as he led the team with 16.3 points per game this season, fourth most in the Capital Athletic Conference.

"Preston is very deserving of this honor and worked hard to achieve it," said Southern Virginia head coach Tony Caputo. "He is consistent in all areas of being a scholar-athlete and puts the time into his weight training and conditioning on top of the regular routine of practice, travel and competition.  He gives his all in every game and was one of our great leaders this year."

Eaton ranked 13th in the league in three-point percentage (36.4) after registering 40 treys on the year. Also known for his strong drives to the basket, his 98 free throw conversions were third-most in the CAC and his 77.8 free-throw percentage ranked ninth in the CAC. He also dished out 52 assists for the year.

Aggressive on the defensive end, as well, his 34 steals ranked 12th-most in the CAC. He logged 4.6 rebounds per game, including 50 offensive boards throughout the season.
