BUENA VISTA, Va.—A Dominic Milburn jumper at the final buzzer lifted the visiting Salisbury Seagulls to a 72-70 victory over the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team Saturday afternoon at Knight Sports Arena in Buena Vista, Va.

After a Chris Baker miss with six seconds remaining, the Seagulls rushed down the court to miss a layup as time expired. A shot clock error rewarded Salisbury with the ball deep on their end of the court with one second remaining when Milburn took the inbounds pass, spun around and nailed a 15-footer to win the game.

Milburn finished the game with 16 points on seven baskets to go with two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Tim Harwood led the Seagulls with 20 points going 7-for-11 from the field with four treys.

"We gave a winning effort but came up short today," said Southern Virginia head coach Tony Caputo. "We had a hard time stopping their seniors, Milburn and Harwood, and they continued to make plays despite our focus on them. It's a tough loss to swallow as we needed this win."

A close contest throughout, the game featured four ties, seven lead changes, 24 points in the paint to Salisbury's 22, 25 points off turnovers to the Seagulls' 22, 10 second-chance points apiece and 33 points off the bench to Salisbury's 20.

Salisbury finished the game shooting 43 percent (24-55), while the Knights ended the game at 45 percent (23-51). Southern Virginia also went 17-for-21 (81 percent) from the free-throw line in the close loss.

Junior Chris Baker led the Knights with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a 4-for-6 mark from three-point range. The Columbia, Md., native also had three boards, three assists and a block. Kenrick Hart scored 11 points off the bench, while freshman Michael Price contributed 10 points for Southern Virginia.

Southern Virginia continues league play in the Capital Athletic Conference with a Monday night rescheduled game at Christopher Newport. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Newport News, Va.
