The teams faced off on Jan. 20 in Salisbury, Md., with the Seagulls taking an 81-72 win. The Knights battled after the Seagulls gained an eight-point lead to end the half down by one, 29-30. In the second half the Knights took the lead, but with five minutes remaining the Seagulls took control to seize the win.
The Knights were 12-13 from the free-throw line, but took the Seagulls to the line 29 times that yielded 21 points from the stripe. The Knights out-rebounded the Seagulls, 34-19, and had 14 points from offensive boards.
Senior forward Kenrick Hart led the team with 17 points and was 3-for-4 from the arc and 6-of-7 from the line. Senior guard Tim Harwood led the Seagulls with 19 points, and was 3-of-4 on three-pointers and 4-for-4 from the stripe.
About the Knights
Southern Virginia will stay home to play in the barn after having to postpone the game against Christopher Newport to Monday.
Junior guard Preston Eaton leads the Knights with an average of 16.8 ppg. Eaton totaled 22 points previously against the Captains and is averaging 4.9 rebounds and nearly two steals per game.
Junior guard Chris Baker shoots 11.6 ppg, averages 4.2 assists each time out and leads the team from the stripe at 78.9 percent. Junior forward Wesley Evans contributes 10.6 ppg and leads the team with nearly seven rebounds per game.
The Knights will look to have more ball control to reduce turnovers and continue to be aggressive on the rebounds to pick up a third conference win.

The Seagulls are shooting 43.6 percent from the field averaging nearly 68 points per game. As a team, they shoot 35.8 percent from three-point range. They also average 6.7 steals per game.
Harwood leads the Seagulls with 13.7 ppg. He shoots 41.8 percent from the field, 85 percent from the line and 47 percent from three-point range. Harwood also leads the team with 20 steals on the year.
Freshman guard Charles Porter trails Harwood with 11.1 ppg. He shoots 45.2 percent from the field, 72 percent from the free-throw line and 30 percent on three-pointers.
Freshman guard Gordon Jeter leads the team with a total of 112 rebounds and averages 6.2 rebounds per game. He shoots 51 percent from the field and averages 9 ppg.
